They may go on to behave in a different manner than they otherwise would have had they not experienced the meaning they found in our work.
I agree. Creative work does not end with the work itself. Once it enters another person’s inner world, it can shift how they perceive something, what they feel or even what they believe is possible.
That capacity to influence also gives the creative a certain responsibility and power. We contribute, however subtly, to the emotional, intellectual and cultural environments people inhabit. Perhaps this is one reason the role of the creative in society has always extended far beyond making things.
